Yangshuo
Time to catch up with a bunch of posts. It's been hard to find computers that will let us access this web site. Can't tell if it's technical or censorship issues.
Yangshuo (near Guilin; recommended highly by Sarah and Gabe) was a great place for us to start off - enough English speakers to make things easy for a few days and amazing landscape for us to explore. We rented bikes and went out in the country (where Rob got his close look at a rice paddy).

A family had us in for lunch, during which I had my first victories with the dictionary, translating characters our host wrote,
and Tavi managed to "talk" with them. (Mom - check it out, I'm so tall!)

Don't worry, you'll never be tall to me... :)
