A Bit More on China, and Then Some Snorkeling

Before this turns into a beach blog, a few more random China pictures that didn't make it into the other posts. Yeah, I'm trying to delay the inevitable drift of this into a site for pictures of turquoise water. That will be less exciting than multi-continent travel, but certainly it is the makings of a good year...

One of our favorite people was our host in Wolong. He's Chinese Rob, down to the leather jacket.

In Tagong near Tibet the air was so clear that it made for some not-real-looking pictures.

And there we also discovered the macro function on our cameras. Bee!

This one is from a bus ride that got us part of the way back to Chengdu from Tagong. It's a typical scene - grey river running through a lush rural valley...with satellite dishes (that you can see if you expand the picture) all over houses that may or may not have running water. If any DirecTV clinic people read this: the mounts are way sketchy.

I could go on. Too many pictures, and of course we only photographed a small fraction of the worthy things and moments. Just one more that I like... The name given to Tavi by a man doing Chinese calligraphy has "big" as the first character because it is close to the Ta syllable. This bus ride in Chengdu proves it accurate.

Okay, next week it's on to the ocean pictures.

Wow, am I glad I don't have to ride the bus there.
