My Contribution to Strategic Planning
For those of you not there, this week at Mudd is a big classes-cancelled-stragetic-planning thing. That's not what I am up to this week. Instead I am doing things like getting up early to go kayaking on Sydney harbour before work and strategically planning the experiments I am going to be doing over the next month and getting trained to do them. Mostly I have been trying to get EBSD scans to work on an older SEM (something of a translation: trying to get maps of the orientations of crystals in a polycrystalline material using a scanning electron microscope). No images worth posting here, but I'm getting the idea so now when I uses the fancy new SEM I won't be a total novice.
Got to have a picture though, so here's one from the moments before sunset after it had been drizzling on Tuesday. (Eric - over on the right is where the upside down tree was, yeah?) Tomorrow I am off to Toowoomba for the weekend to visit friends from my first stay in Australia. Main item on the agenda is lots of good eating and drinking.
