Dodgy Part II

This Tuesday and Wednesday my whole group went to Melbourne for a meeting of everyone involved in the ARC Centre of Excellence that funds some of our work. A lot of long discussions I didn't need to hear, but it was still good that I went because I made some progress on figuring out what work from here I might want to continue after this year.

Okay, so at the airport I didn't expect them to check ID's. Whatever. But when we were going through security one of my spacey colleagues didn't walk through the metal detector threshhold. He walked around it - through the space between the metal detector and the carry on luggage scanner...and the person 'watching' didn't notice. Awesome.

It's Thursday here, so Thanksgiving. Of course with all the American TV they get they are familiar with the concept, but for most of the 17 of us who will be sitting down to turkey this weekend it will be the first experience of it. Yeah, we're doing it Saturday since today is not so much a day off. I've got a big turkey waiting for me at the butcher (yes, I had to special order it) and found frozen cranberries at a specialty store. Rebecca and I have two straight days of cooking planned, starting with cooking fresh pumpkin for the pies tonight (no canned option here!) Full report next week. Happy day to you all!
