More Air Time

So I didn't get to do all the catch up posts I'd wanted to do this week, but now I'm traveling again and in the post-as-I-go mode. Where I've gone to today is Hong Kong. Just here in the airport for 2 hours on my way to Korea for a conference. First I have two days on my own in Seoul (about which I am a bit nervous, but on that last flight I listened to a short podcast I downloaded and am now all over how to say 'please' and 'thank you' at least. I have a page of other transliterated useful phrases, but I really don't know how to pronounce them.) Then the conference is on Jeju island, evidently the Hawaii of Korea. After that it'll be back to Hong Kong for 5 days with a side trip into China and maybe Macau. Whew! I'll be happy to get back here - who'd have thought that I'd be comforted by airport announcements in Mandarin! They're going first in Cantonese, but then I understand when they are repeated in Mandarin! Okay, it's not that complex cause all it is is the same pattern of gate change announcements for different flights, but still. And yeah, they're repeated in English too, but that's not the point.
