Whitsundays, Again

[Catching up..this is from April!] I have been to Australia 6 times, and I think 5 of those have included a trip to the Whitsundays to sail and see tropical reef. Steven and I spent 3 days on the boat Summertime (recommended by Rebecca..thanks!) sailing around the beautiful islands (with a mandatory stop at the famous Whitehaven Beach).

While on the boat Steven did his first-ever scuba dive

and there was good fun snorkeling and kayaking in inflatable boats. On our last full day we were paused at Tounge Bay, and there was a bit of a miscalculation about how fast the tide was going out and the boat got stuck. Then more stuck, and more, and finally we were sent off in the kayaks to have water fights and go check out the big sea turtles in the shallow part of the bay while the tide did its thing. The situtation got considerably worse (for the skipper, and the turtles we disturbed) before they got better. Excellent photo op for the rest of us though!

PS Mom - now I know what that 'mushroom' thing that you have in the den really is!
